INSIDE THIS ISSUE:
Muslim of America has
already been noted as a subversive organization of isolated Islamist
Muslim compounds linked to terrorist training, or jihad, dangerous
on an alarming scale.
Counter-terrorism expert Dr. Peter Leitner, president, the William
R. Higgins Counter-Terrorism Research Center, said short of listing
MOA as terrorist, a thorough probe of members already charged with
crimes would yield evidence of racketeering, or organized crime.
There are up to 35 Muslims of America compounds spread across the
U.S., and their rural locations make them difficult to infiltrate,
Leitner explained previously.
Counter-terrorist enforcement could stand aside and draw on
observations of criminal cases linked to MOA, which is where Leitner
continued his comments recently to Christian Action Network
president Martin Mawyer.
“Those RICO statutes that are there in order to define criminal
conspiracies are probably our most effective tools against domestic
terrorist organizations,” Dr. Leitner said.
“It is organized crime,” he added. “We should simply use those
tools…And other laws we need to use are the sedition acts.
“It is a felony to advocate the violent overthrow of the United
States government and its constitutional system. Those are still on
the books – we need to use them.”
The problem, Leitner said, is law enforcement leaders, especially at
the national level, do not set their vision for what law enforcement
means on the street, where enforcement is practical.
They are continually looking at a big picture – where the problem is
one of terrorism, possible attacks, on the scale of a strategic war.
The trench-warfare mentality forgets the high-ground of simple fact:
the plotting and organization of a criminal enterprise is a high
crime in and of itself here on our turf, in America.
“There’s nothing wrong with these laws; they are still the laws of
the land,” Leitner said. “They are really organized crime gangs, and
if we prosecute them as such, we can wipe them out.”
Adding to his prior comments warning against “lack of diligence on
the part of the government” leaving American citizens unprotected,
Leitner said there is a failure of America’s political leaders to
pursue terrorist enterprises as organized crime.
He added brave citizens, if victimized in any way, can join, or
perhaps start the ball rolling on the RICO front by going after
terrorist organizations through civil actions. Civil RICO includes
the possibility of reward orders to the tune of triple asset
damages.
In the meantime, as many Christian Action Network supporters have
pointed out in their comments to CAN offices, there is a lack of
action on the part of our protectors, and this leaves Muslims of
America and other terrorist-linked organizations, festering in our
backyards.
“They are still there because the United States government allows
them to be there,” Leitner said. “There’s either indecision, or
there are people within…manipulating prosecutors to prevent [them]
from actually going after these organizations.”
Leitner warned against law enforcement apathy regarding the
terrorist, criminal threat – and against lightly scratching the
surface only to turn away because of the religious appearance of a
group.
He said Muslims of America hides behind their “religious card” and
is quickly ready to blame any scrutiny against them as an act of
anti-Muslim bigotry.
“It’s a complete red herring, but it is used effectively on
politically correct people in the United States who doubt their own
system of justice,” he said.
