INSIDE THIS ISSUE:
“Stop the Genocide,” was
the theme that rand out across college and university campuses
nationwide last week, April 7-11 as students called on greater
awareness of Islamic jihad.
They were telling their teachers and administrators not to overlook
the facts, “jihad kills,” and pandering to Islamic extremism puts
communities, America and the west at risk.
Heading up coordination of the events, the second week-long campaign
of its kind, was the California based David Horowitz Freedom Center.
Horowitz, a cold-war era activist, from the “other side,” said to
PRB News he used some old-left tactics for getting the campus-based
events the traction and attention he said is needed to influence
public debate.
‘I used to say as a young radical back then, you’ll never win the
world if you get up at 10 a.m., while Nelson Rockefeller is getting
up at 7 a.m., to run the world,” Horowitz said.
He urged students to be diligent about getting the
“consciousness-raising” events noticed, “to highlight the genocidal
agendas of the Islamo-fascist crusade,” he said.
Horowitz likes the semantics-twisting game – it is part of being a
thorn in the side of complacency. Making a tongue-in-cheek reference
to Muslim crusaders is just one barb.
“We are not here to be nice about it, we call it ‘Islamo-Fascism
Awareness Week, we call it that in order to get the attention of the
left-leaning media,” Horowitz said.
Horowitz added he hopes students will rise to the occasion as in
generations past to move awareness of the nation on the issue of
global jihad, the quest for Islamic world dominion.
“We have to realize the threat; we are involved in a global war
against Islamic extremism,” he said. “World conquest is their goal,
and violence is only one of their means.”
The events last week centered on an ongoing petition drive called
the “Stop the Genocide” declaration.
“Specifically, we are asking all campus groups to repudiate the
genocidal passage in Islam’s sacred texts,” Horowitz said.
“It reads, ‘the time [of judgment] will not come until Muslims will
fight the Jews and kill them; until Jews hide behind rocks and
trees, which will cry: O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me,
come on and kill him,’”
Literature distributed by the Horowitz Center noted the reference to
Islam’s Sahih Muslim book 41, number 6985, regarded as holy
literature for Muslims to obey.
The week also focused on repudiation of Hamas and Hezbollah
terrorists active against Israel.
Reports on the events said speakers called the week an opportunity
for “equal time” balanced against Islamic apologists dominating much
of the left-leaning curriculum and teaching.
Included in the week were film viewing events, panel discussions,
guest speakers and literature distribution at such schools as Brown
University, Cal State, Duke, Elon, UCLA, Temple, Texas A&M, UVA,
Pace, UMASS, Flint, UPENN, USC and Grove City College.
A total of 108 listed colleges held some or all of the suggested
events, plus other events occurred at schools which did not
officially host approved student activities.
The public-funded Muslim Student Association refused to recognize
and support Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week.
