ATLANTA GA – An in-depth investigative
report by WSB-TV2 Atlanta News last night featured CAN President
Martin Mawyer exposing the jihadist threat at two Muslim of the
Americas camps in Georgia. Mawyer contributed information to help
investigative reporter Mark Winne have a complete body of
information to expose the threat and its links to known terrorist
organizations such as Jamaat ul-Fuqra. On camera, Winne asked Mawyer how a
Christian calling to “love thy neighbor” fit with what he was saying
about two communal camps and possible paramilitary training taking
place at them. “When I see the threat that these camps
pose to my neighbor, I am loving my neighbor,” Mawyer said. “We
decided that we must alert the American public.” Through the broadcast, CAN presented
Georgia’s neighborhoods with a 1990 terrorist training and
recruitment video featuring statements by Muslims leader Sheikh
Mubarak Gilani and graphic detail of terrorist killing techniques
available to the camps to this day. “Everything in this video can be used to
this day – how to highjack vehicles, how to set off bombs, shoot
people, strangle people; there’s nothing in it that’s outdated,”
Mawyer said in the broadcast. The six-minute exposé included responses
to the CAN material offered. “The remarks by the Imam were a concern
to me professionally,” Commerce, Georgia, Police Department Chief
John Gaissert said. CAN also gave a copy of a detailed report
by the Regional Organized Crime Information Center outlining ties,
including funding links, from Muslim of the America’s Inc., to
Jamaat ul-Fuqra terrorists. The report also noted their potential for
violence, mentioning acts of murder and kidnappings that Winne noted
took place chiefly in the 1980s and early 1990s. Following the telecast, Mawyer said,
“This went very well, we got our information out; I believe the
people of Georgia are much more aware now of the jihadist threat in
their neighborhoods.”
