Martin J. Mawyer - President of CAN

Martin MawyerMartin Mawyer began his career as a freelance journalist, resulting in his position as the editor of Jerry Falwell's "Moral Majority Report." In 1990, he founded the Christian Action Network (CAN), a non-profit organization created to protect America's religious and moral heritage through educational and political activism efforts, both on the national and grassroots levels. The organization is based on Biblical principles, values and traditions.

Under Mawyer's leadership, CAN has grown to have over 250,000 members. He has written three books and has appeared on the top television and radio programs in the country, including Larry King Live, Hannity, NBC's Today Show, Pat Robertson's 700 Club, and Entertainment Tonight.

Since its creation, CAN has been a powerful force in the campaigns for rights for the unborn, voluntary prayer in public schools, restoring religious liberties and defending traditional marriage. The organization has exposed offensive behavior at Walt Disney World's "Gay Days" that happened right in front of families, and successfully fought for an end to taxpayer funding of "hate art" through the National Endowment for the Arts.

CAN views the threat of radical Islam as a direct and formidable threat to these values and foundations. In February 2009, CAN released "Homegrown Jihad: The Terrorist Camps Around the U.S." to much acclaim, including praise from Sean Hannity when Mawyer appeared on his T.V. show. It took three years to produce and included first-hand footage of radical Islamic compounds on U.S. soil used to create extremists and provide them with paramilitary training. The success of the film motivated CAN to continue tackling various parts of the radical Islamic threat facing the West.

In the spring of 2010, CAN released its second film, "Islam Rising: Geert Wilders' Warning to the West," about the story of a controversial Dutch parliamentarian who is being prosecuted for his criticism of Islam, its holy book and founder.

Mawyer's organization continues to be at the forefront of the struggle against the inroads being made by radical Islam in the West. Their next project focuses on the Islamization of Europe and how the beginnings of the same process can be found in the United States.
