The Islam in Europe blog, citing the Danish newspaper Kristeligt Dagblad, says that a new book in Denmark contains a study showing that 18% of Danes and nearly 66% of immigrants from five Muslim countries have anti-Semitic viewpoints.

The study was carried out by interviewing approximately 1,500 people from Turkey, Pakistan, the former Yugoslavia, the Palestinian territories, and Somalia, and 300 ethnic Danes. The author of the study is Professor Peter Nannestad of Aarhus University's Institute for Political Science.

"All were asked three questions, which deal with their attitudes towards various groups in society and not just to Jews.  But it's the Jews that the five groups are clearly most distrustful and prejudiced against," the report said.

The inquiries found that 31.9% of the immigrants and 18.2% of ethnic Danes interviewed agreed that "there are too many Jews in Denmark" and 65.8% of the immigrants agreed that you "can't be careful enough in relation to Jews in Denmark."

The third question asked by the researchers was whether they did not want to see a family member marry a Jew. 75.2% of the immigrants and 14.7% of ethnic Danes said they did not want that to happen. The author considered those sentiments to be anti-Semitic in the study.
