In times of turmoil, confusion, dread, growing moral chaos and climate change, be thankful for one comforting certainty: You know where you’re supposed to go to the bathroom.
At least, if you’re on our mailing list, you probably do.
Apparently, a lot of people in America’s larger cities do not. The city of Houston recently held a referendum on whether to allow people to use the public restroom gender of their choice, according to which sex they feel like being on a given day. That resolution got flushed — by a wide margin — in a Nov. 3 vote.
Sanity prevailed. Houstonians proved to be in touch with the simple, scientific reality of gender.
Which brings us to New York City this week, where Mayor Bill de Blasio, bypassing citizens with all their zany notions about “voting,” signed an executive order to open all restrooms and locker rooms in public buildings to men who feel like they should be women, women who want to be men, and people who just aren’t sure either way.
Presumably it also means that if a man is interested in going into the ladies’ room to get a closer look at what goes on in there, all he need do is say he “identifies as a woman.” What closed-minded, old-fashioned bigot would dare to try and stop him?
The privacy and peace of mind of any women using the facilities are of course ignored. The right of the man not to have his feelings hurt takes precedence. Hurting someone’s feelings, no matter how twisted and self-deluded they are, is now a cardinal sin.
Some incident is bound to occur that will illustrate the idiocy of what Mayor de Blasio and his gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgender cheerleaders have done. Someone will have to suffer horribly before good old two-gender oppression is restored.
But here’s the big question about the whole issue: On issues from “climate change” to abortion and homosexuality, leftists trumpet the supremacy of objective, empirical science. We are told about the science of global warming, how science has replaced God, how science reigns supreme over religion and old-fashioned morals. In the case of global warming in particular, anyone who doubts the science risks being seen as a Bible-thumping science denier.
So why is it that gender, which is empirical scientific fact, is so flexible for leftists like Bill de Blasio?
If I am born a man, no amount of drugs, surgery or encouragement from the mayor of New York is going to make me female. I have XY chromosomes. My skull is different. My pelvis is different. My hormones are different. My brain is different. I can dress up as a woman and even have my soft tissue rearranged and some chemical enhancements done, but at the end of my life, it will not take long for any medical examiner to declare, “This was a guy.”
It’s science. Human beings come in two distinct flavors, male and female, with only the rarest exceptions. It doesn’t set people free to deny this scientific fact, and it certainly isn’t good for civilization to try to force the issue on people … namely men and women trying to answer the call of nature in peace.
So if this issue comes to a city, school or institution near you, fight it. Fight it in the name of science. Because the science is on your side.
