National Terror Alert Response Center
reported Monday, March 3, on a gunman dressed in a suit and tie
shooting at West Palm Beach, Florida, Wendy’s restaurant customers.
One victim died at the scene and five others were injured – it was
unclear if all the injured victims sustained gunshot wounds or if
collateral injuries were included in initial police reports.
The gunfire sent customers racing out of the
restaurant. Motorists at the drive-through window also fled, some
leaving their vehicles running.
Palm Beach County Sheriff spokeswoman Teri Barbera said three of the
survivors were in a critical condition. Two others had minor
injuries, including one person who was hurt while running away.
Several people were carried from the restaurant on stretchers.
“I just saw a lady with a little boy in her arms come running out
screaming, ‘Somebody’s shooting!’” said Sandra Jackson, who had been
filling her vehicle with petrol across the street.
Mrs Jackson, 43, of Palm Springs, said her husband was still in the
restaurant.
The mayhem unfolded just after noon on Monday during the lunch-hour
rush at the eatery on a major suburban road lined with strip malls,
car dealerships and fast food restaurants…
The gunman entered the restaurant and went to a restroom before
coming out brandishing what appeared to be a 9mm handgun, sheriff’s
spokesman Paul Miller said.
As quickly as an incident like this occurs,
is it not about time to reconsider the September 10 thinking that
guns should be curtailed among law-abiding citizens?
What impact would more than half of us have if we could be deputized
by local law enforcement as reliable, safe gun users committed to
our community’s protection?
