China reports on Islamic jihad in Thailand

Tracking Chinese reports on Islamic jihad in Thailand yields a sense of how the destabilizing impact is of regional interest.

People’s Daily News of China reported a bomb detonation at a southern Thailand school - in a playground area tree.

It is not reported if suspicion led to Thai soldiers occupying the area, or how students were kept away, but the detonation injured two soldiers.

The report said Islamic insurgents are responsible for the bombing…

Local police were quoted by local newspaper The Nation as saying that the explosion occurred at 9:45 am (0245 GMT) inside the Ban Pase School in Rangae district, in Southern Thailand's province of Narathiwat Thursday morning.

By CAN calculations, if the detonation occurred at 9:45 a.m., local time, Thailand, it would have been 9:45 p.m., Eastern, U.S. standard time.

Police said the insurgents hid a homemade bomb at a tree near a school building and detonated it while two soldiers were near the spot. The detonation terrified about 140 students there.

Fortunately, all students were studying in classes so none of them were injured.

Following the explosion, the school management decided to close the school indefinitely because teachers feared for the safety of their students. 

Chinese sourced statistics note Islamic jihad has taken more than 2,800 lives since 2004 in Thailand as Islamic fundamentalists follow a fatwa for the Islamization of three southern Thai provinces: Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani.

Why do they do it? Because they believe Islam is destined for world dominion, and they can strengthen their cause through violent jihad in Thailand. Why Thailand? Because it is vulnerable and Islamic terrorist fighters are operating from protected operative bases.

China continues to note an official interest in the conflict and the impact of fundamentalist Islamic jihad elsewhere in Asia - and there is no indication they interpret the term “Jihad” as meaning inner religious struggle.

All too soon, it will be our turn - here in America - once the Imams of Shari’a Islam calculate it is time, they have enough “Soldiers of Allah” to declare their fatwas and begin a violent jihad from protected operative bases in our land.
