Bombs kill 73 at Baghdad pet markets

Islamic funds advance rebels in Chad Islamist Muslim bombs kill 73 at Baghdad pet markets via two mentally retarded women set for remote detonation.

In a new low for morally degrading Wahabist decadence teaching Islamic Muslim bloodlust, terrorists strapped bombs to two mentally retarded women to detonate while shopping.

Paul Tait and Aws Qusay reported for Reuters Friday, Feb. 1, on remote controlled bombings. They formed a coordinated attack on pet bazaars in Baghdad, killing more than 73 people.

It is the deadliest day since 30,000 added U.S. troops came to the capital in spring 2007.

The attacks are blamed on al Qaeda, striking two popular Baghdad pet markets on Friday, the Iraqi capital's worst bombings in six months.

Police said an apparent female suicide bomber killed 45 people and wounded 82 at the Ghazil pet market in central Baghdad.

Another blast 10 minutes earlier killed more than 27 people and wounded 67 at a bird market in southern Baghdad, police said…

U.S. military sources said female suicide bombers sent by al Qaeda caused both attacks. An Iraqi official said the two were mentally retarded - the bombs detonated by remote control.

"By targeting innocent Iraqis they show their true demonic character," Lieutenant-Colonel Steve Stover, a spokesman for U.S. troops in Baghdad, said in a statement.

Hmmm, Wahabist Sunni terrorists, officially acting in renegade fashion outside the blessing of Wahabist leaders, are fingered as “demonic,” intriguing.

The terrorists know as they are caught or killed, Wahabist leaders disavow any knowledge of their actions – and their cassette-taped orders self destruct in five seconds…

While attacks have fallen across Iraq in recent months, the blasts underscore U.S. military warnings that Sunni Islamist al Qaeda remains dangerous - a return to violence that took Iraq to the brink of sectarian civil war is still possible.

At the Ghazil market, one of Baghdad's most popular gathering places, people stared at the destruction as workers swept up body parts and blood-stained animal boxes.

"I came here to enjoy myself. I don't know how I survived," said witness Abu Haider, who was covered in blood as he stood among ruined stalls and carcasses of birds and other animals.

"I was right there at the scene when the blast happened. It knocked me over. When I managed to get up, I saw dozens had been killed and wounded," he said.

One witness said the female bomber entered the market saying she had birds to sell. Scores of people gathered as the bomb underneath her clothing went off, witness said.

Major-General Qassim Moussawi, spokesman for the Iraqi military in Baghdad, said the suicide bombs were detonated remotely by mobile telephones.

"We found the mobiles used to detonate the women," he said, adding the women were mentally retarded. He did not elaborate on how the Iraqi military knew about their mental condition.

Ambulances tried to push through packed streets to get to Ghazil after the blast, which occurred in almost exactly the same spot as a bombing which killed 13 people on November 23…

Kim Gamel with the Associated Press reported Friday:

The chief Iraqi military spokesman in Baghdad, Brig. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi, claimed the female bombers had Down syndrome and that the explosives were detonated by remote control.

This indicates they were not willing attackers in what could be a new method by suspected Sunni insurgents to subvert stepped up security measures.

U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker said the bombings showed that a resilient al-Qaeda has "found a different, deadly way" to try to destabilize Iraq.

"There is nothing they won't do if they think it will work in creating carnage and the political fallout that comes from that," he told The Associated Press in an interview at the State Department…

Local police said the woman in the first attack sold cream in the morning at the market and was known to locals as "the crazy lady."

Remember Ambassador Ryan Crocker’s words as evidence emerges of a conspiracy to attack American schools – the evidence of motive: there is nothing they won’t do to create carnage and the political fallout that comes from that.
