The documentary will seek to expose homegrown
jihadism, terrorist activity being planned from indigenous terrorist
groups developed within our national borders.
Calling the week “very successful,” Christian Action Network
president Martin Mawyer said the documentary filming team deployed
to Washington D.C. carried the cause a big step forward.
The CAN documentary will focus specifically on Muslims of America
and its paramilitary training camps now in operation in Virginia ,
South Carolina , New York and several other locations.
The three-man crew with Mawyer conducted a series of interviews
taped on location with studio-quality equipment Wednesday and
Thursday, Dec. 12 and 13.
The equipment included Sony XL-II digital film cameras mounted on
tripods, a boom microphone positioned with a state-of-the-art
stabilization stand and studio lighting.
“They were not expecting all of that, I think we surprised them,”
Mawyer said after hearing comments from numerous congressional
office staffers.
The team set up for operation in the congressional offices of
Virginia Congressman Virgil Goode and Texas Congresswoman Sue
Myrick, capturing key foundational comments from the legislators
about the threat of jihadism in America .
Goode commented on legislation needed to secure America ’s borders
against infiltration. He added the overall threat includes
terrorists recruiting from within America also.
Myrick stressed the need for more Americans to know the threat in
greater detail and to be involved with efforts to expose current
activities that are likely leading up to violent jihad.
“Homegrown terrorism is absolutely a threat, and it is very
difficult to deal with because of the fact that many of these groups
are right now operating under the protection of our laws,” she said.
It is not until actual laws are broken that law enforcement can
intervene, she added, noting that much of the activity leading up to
violence is subversive, but nearly impossible to track or prosecute
against.
The team also interviewed Frank Gaffney, leader of the Center for
Security Policy, and David Yerushalmi, president and founder of
Society of Americans for National Existence.
“The insights from these leaders will be a strong foundation for the
documentary project, and will provide key context for what we are
looking at as we view Muslim of America camp footage and excerpts
from their ‘Soldiers of Allah’ training film,” Mawyer said.
The footage for the documentary, plus research and documented
information, is already prepared.
Mawyer said editing and proofing schedules are in place, and a
hoped-for completion date in March appears likely to be met. “We
have our production plans lined up,” he said.
