CAN Hosts ‘Jihad in America’ Forum
At University of North Carolina
(April 12, 2006) Explaining the goals of radical Islam and its strategies for wanting to attack and kill innocent Americans, the president of Christian Action Network, Martin Mawyer, hosted a forum at the University of North Carolina called, “Jihad in America.”
In his speech Mawyer explained, “The ultimate goal of Muslim terrorism in the United States is to weaken us politically, socially and economically for the eventual uprising they hope will turn America into an Islamic country.
“Radical terrorist organizations want to push the people of the United States into such a state of panic for their lives that they will eventually rise up and demand that America become an Islamic Republic. To achieve that end, the terrorists need to strike fear into the hearts of Americans until we submit.”
The event, which was sponsored by UNC College Republicans, was held to address concerns regarding the recent attack in March of a former Muslim university student who rented a Jeep and ran over nine university students.
Mawyer started by explaining that the objective of radical Islam is to install a Supreme Religious Leader (called a caliphate) that they hope will one day conquer and rule the world.
He cited recent comments made by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld who also warned Americans that the goal of radical Islam is “take over governments from North Africa to South Asia to re-establish a caliphate they hope one day will include every continent.
Killing “infidels” is part of the strategy for world domination, Mawyer said, who then quoted al Qaeda military commander, Abu Zarqawi as saying, “Killing the infidels is our religion, slaughtering them is our religion, until they convert to Islam or pay us tribute."
Mawyer explained that the possession and use of nuclear weapons against America is important for al-Qaeda and other terrorist members to achieve their tactic of terrorizing Americans and turning the United States into an Islamic Republic.
Al-Qaeda has long sought to acquire nuclear weapons, Mawyer said.
“In fact, Osama bin Laden has claimed it is his ‘religious duty’ to acquire nuclear bombs.” Mawyer stated.
In May 2003, Bin Laden received an official Islamic ruling from Shaykh Nasir bin Hamid al-Fahd granting him permission to use nuclear weapons against the United States.
In his ruling, the Shaykh stated, “if a bomb that killed ten million of them and burned as much of their land as they have burned Muslims’ land were dropped on them, it would be permissible, with no need to mention any other argument. We might need other arguments if we wanted to annihilate more than this number of them.”
Mawyer cast doubts on whether a “moderate” Islamic leader in the United States could ever arise to shout down the bin Laden’s of the radical Muslim world.
In order for a “moderate” Muslim cleric to gain national prominence in America, the leader would need a “center stage” to attract a following. None exists, said Mawyer.
“Moderate Muslim leaders do not have their own television shows, as, for example, a Pat Robertson or a Jerry Falwell does. There are no major Muslim preachers even on radio that can gain a national following,” said Mawyer.
“You’re not going to drive down the highway and see a Muslim bookstore full of self-help books, magazines, music and religious trinkets,” he added. “In order for a moderate American Muslim to take the center stage, there has to be a center stage to take. And no center stage exists.”
By contrast, Mawyer said there is no problem for radical Muslim leaders to take the center stage.
“All they have to do is blow something up. Issue an internet threat. Behead a hostage or send a tape to al-Jazeera television to get their message out,” he said.
Mawyer also explained how radical Islam is infiltrating the United States through a violent sect of Islam called Wahhabism.
“Wahhabism teaches that the Koran should be taken literally,” said Mawyer. “Therefore, when the Koran states, ‘Seize them and slay them wherever you find them,’ this is taken literally.”
“It was certainly taken literally by Mohammed Taheriaza,” Mawyer pointed out, “when he rented a Grand Jeep Cherokee and tried to run over and kill as many university students as possible on the campus of the University of North Carolina. He tried to slay them wherever he could find them.”
Mawyer explained that Wahhabism is promoted in the United States through the petrodollars of Saudi Arabia, which currently owns 70 percent of America’s mosques.
Mawyer said, “When Saudi Arabia owns a mosque, it means control of its property, its buildings, the appointment of its imams, training of those imams, dictating the content of its preaching, including the faxing of Friday sermons; it controls the literature distributed in these American mosques and the control of its bookstores.”
“Therefore, 70 percent of American Muslims are being indoctrinated in an extreme view of Islam that teaches jihad is necessary for complete world domination,” he said.
Mawyer said the war against terrorism is not a war against a people and their land, but against a people and their ideology – radical Islam.
“We must define the enemy,” he stated. “Saying America is engaged in a Global War Against Terrorism is like saying America is in a Global War Against Gingivitis. It doesn’t mean anything, it doesn’t define the enemy, and it confuses the very people it’s meant to protect.”
To start, Mawyer said the United States must stop all funding activities by Saudi Arabia to buy up American mosques and to finance American Muslim organizations for the purpose of promoting Wahhabism.
Also, he said, America must also stop allowing Muslim clerics in the United States to hide behind the First Amendment rights of the Constitution which, they believe, allows them to promote Holy War in America.
“You can’t shout fire in a crowded theatre and you can’t shout burn down America in your mosque, either,” Mawyer said.
Among his other suggestions Mawyer said Muslim immigrants should be asked specifically whether they take certain scriptures of the Koran literally.
“For instance, Muslim immigrants should flat out be asked if they believe in Koran, verse 4:89, that states it is the duty of Muslims to “Seize them and slay them wherever you find them,’” said Mawyer.
In conclusion, Mawyer stated that all Americans must examine their core beliefs, values and principals and determine whether they are courageous enough to defend them, regardless of the terrorist attacks that could be launched against America.
“You are in this battle, whether you like it or not,” Mawyer told the students. “Al-Qaeda has issued orders to blow up your sporting events. You cannot ignore it any longer. It’s no longer somebody else’s problem or somebody else’s war. It’s no longer just the problem of the United States government. It’s your problem.”
“There are nine university students from this school that had to learn that lesson the hard way,” he said. “And we should have learned this lesson when they killed 3,000 innocent Americans on 9/11. These Muslim terrorists want to kill you. Not just our soldiers. Not just our government leaders. But you, as well.”
The battle can only be won, Mawyer said, if Americans stand courageous and refuse to abandon the traditional, moral and biblical core beliefs that founded the United States.
“Find out what you believe, hold courageously to those belief, and never, ever, given an inch to the Islamist who wants who wants to turn your country, and your citizenship, into the Islamic Republic of the United States,” Mawyer concluded.
