CAN Delivers $40,000 Worth

Of Relief Items to Hurricane Victims

In an immediate relief effort following Hurricane Katrina, Christian Action Network delivered over $40,000 worth of aid to the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, Mississippi.

In a thankful letter to CAN, Pastor Steve Smith wrote:

“There is no way to express our thanks for the supplies the Christian Action Network sent to Waynesboro.  Just one week ago it would have been hard to believe that we would be living the reality of today.  But Katrina’s presence has changed our world for a long time and it is a blessing to see Christian people and organizations like yours make incredible sacrifices to help and make a difference.”

Among the most basic supplies of delivering water and food, CAN also delivered chainsaws, blankets, air mattresses, first aid kits, as well as baby formula, diapers and instant milk.

In a separate delivery to victims in the St. Bernard Parish, CAN also delivered a half-dozen power generators.

“It was a true blessing for everyone at CAN, including our supporters, to help these victims who were devastated by Hurricane Katrina,” said CAN President, Martin Mawyer.  “To see the smiles and relief on the faces as we unloaded our trucks, especially the faces of small children, was one of the most rewarding experiences in our history.”

“But as always in these cases of incredible hardship, it’s difficult to leave knowing that more could, and needed, to be done,” Mr. Mawyer said.
