CAN Delivers Large-Print Bibles

To Military Hospital In Germany

In March 2006, the Christian Action Network delivered large-print Bibles to a U.S. military hospital in Germany.

Chaplains at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Centered in Germany requested CAN’s help in supplying the large-print Bibles to help wounded, injured and ill soldiers who were not capable of reading the smaller print version.

The hospital in Germany is the primary medical center servicing American troops in Europe, as well as those wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“It was a pleasure and an honor to provide the Bibles,” CAN President, Martin Mawyer said.  “Many soldiers are simply unable to read the small print versions currently near their bedside, either because the lighting is low at night, or they have eye injuries, or because they lack mobility in their hands and arms.”

“Thanks to the generous support of our members,” Mawyer said, “we were able to provide a Bible for every hospital bed.  But I’m sure they will soon be depleted as many soldiers will probably take the Bibles with them when they return to their bases.  Hopefully, we can do this project again in the near future.”

Military Chaplains at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany say some wounded, injured and ill soldiers need the large-print Bibles for easier reading.

CAN provided the Bibles in March, 2006.
